Over twenty years on film.

I first picked up a camera over 20 years ago, just after finishing high school, and fell in love with film photography from the very beginning. There was something about the process that grabbed me. The slower pace, the anticipation, the fact that every frame mattered. More than two decades later, that’s still how I work.

I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Photography) at Queensland University of Technology in 2012, but the real education has come from years behind the camera, working with people from all walks of life.

Film demands patience. It asks you to slow down, observe, and make deliberate choices. There’s no instant preview or endless stream of images — just trust in your eye, your experience, and the moment unfolding in front of you. That’s what continues to draw me to it. It keeps photography honest.

My greatest strengths are technical precision and the ability to connect with the people I photograph. Knowing how to shape light and expose film correctly is only half the job. The other half is creating an environment where people feel comfortable enough to be themselves. The strongest images happen when trust replaces self-consciousness.

My work sits between portrait and documentary. Honest moments, natural light where possible, grain embraced rather than hidden. Whether I’m photographing a fashion campaign, an artist, or someone I’ve only just met, I’m always looking for photographs that feel real — images with character, emotion and a sense of place.
